Combined model – Soviet infantry fighting vehicle BMP-2D (Afghan war).
This modification of the BMP-2 was made specifically for the limited contingent of Soviet troops in the Republic of Afghanistan by the repair plants of the Ministry of Defense. The guerrilla nature of the battles in Afghanistan revealed the vulnerability of serial BMPs from hand-held anti-tank weapons and mines of the BMP-2D received additional reservations, bolted to the body mine plows.
